Review
This is based on Dr. Seuss's "Horton hears a Who!" classic book. This is an enjoyable movie, there is something in it for everyone, especially kids. The animation is almost perfect beating Finding Nemo and Toy story hands down. The colors are fantastic. Jim Carrey and Steve Carrell do a wonderful job taking care not to hog the lime light. How nice to hear Jim Carrey with his face elongated! Reminds me of his days at the improv just plain hilarious. The details in the movie are amazing!! Horton's jungle is wonderful, the colors are just breathtaking. Horton's jungle gives the idea of huge, generous and endles...In total contrast the Whoville is depicted so well with the Mayor's cramped home and office..The scene when the Mayor talks about his rich heritage to his Son..all the way from his father, grand father..to the first Stone age forfather..who were all btw the mayors of whoville is not only hilarious but so realistic.

Though there are deviations in the movie when compared to the book, the spirit and sancitity of Dr. Seuss is maintained through out the movie. Just like in Dr. Seuss's books there are subtle yet clear messages hidden allaround in the movie. "A person's a person, no matter how small."  An elephant's faithful one-hundred percent," There are strong messages of Tolerence everywhere..Horton clearly shows you can question authority and yet be true to yourself.
Incidently kangaroo (Carol Burnett), a strictmom, killjoy who insists that "If you can't see it, hear it or feel it, it doesn't exist." Kangaroo looks, talks and acts like the crusading conservative republicans???
Wickersham Brothers, a band of thuggish monkeys, shoot Horton with bananas from their peels like machine gun, one of them takes a deep breath, "I love the smell of bananas in the morning.")This movie however isn't preachy, which would have lost its shine..

The Negatives:

I did find the Sumarai and Japanese slides not really funny, they just seem to whiz by me. Looked really weird and an episode of bad editing..
Also the ninty six kids of the Mayor who are girls..are shown as sterotypes..but maybe I am missing something there..the silent boy finally comes good..so you need the boy after all..the girls no good?

Recommed:

All in all an enjoyable movie, a treat for eyes, mind and you will not know how the time flew by. Go see it and buy the DVD.
